I've always wondered that.

Do pediatricians treat their own children

You r not allowed to prescribe medication for a family member, because of possible abuse issues & parents drugging their kids. This is said with the caveat that the law might have changed since I was a kid.
My mom is a doctor & she always dealt with our minor illnesses & we had labwork done in her office, but she could not prescribe medication for us so we had to have it prescribed by a different doctor. Plus, she thought it was always good to get a second opinion that is not clouded by worries.

Do pediatricians treat their own children

I am a former pediatrician, and we are not allowed to treat immediate family. and even if I could, I probably wouldn't. The only worse than possibly screwing up anything on a child is possibly screwing anything up on your child. So, I would not do any formal treating on my kids.

Do pediatricians treat their own children

They may but they shouldent unless they are absolutely sure that at the most it is a very minor infection. It becomes almost impossible to think of something serious when u are treating a loved one and one my keep on postponing them only to land up in trouble later on.

Do pediatricians treat their own children

I would think a good pediatrician would treat their own kids. Who else would know better than their own parents. Knowing their behavorial habits and knowing what they could be allergic to.. and watching them ,knowing what symptoms they have and be able to diagnose a problem pretty fast.

If they have the time perhaps they would.

Do pediatricians treat their own children

I am sure they do!

Would not you, if you had the knowledge to do so, instead of trusting in someone else that do not know them like you do?

Do pediatricians treat their own children

I think it depends on the person. Obviously they are able to but I think probably most feel more comfortable letting someone else handle that since it becomes difficult to separate the connection you have to your child with your duty as a doctor.

it would be cheaper than going to someone
